Nuns Used As Sex Slaves By Priests

Pope Francis has admitted that clerics have sexually abused nuns, and in one case they were kept as sex slaves.

He said in that case his predecessor, Pope Benedict, was forced to shut down an entire congregation of nuns who were being abused by priests.


He said the Church was attempting to address the problem but said it was "still going on".

Last November, the Catholic Church's global organisation for nuns denounced the "culture of silence and secrecy" that prevented them from speaking out.

Until there is transparency and clear actions taken against those who have committed such abuse, the abuse will continue!

Pope Francis, who is visiting Lesbos, is reportedly to offer a home in the Vatican to a small group of refugees facing deportation from the Greek island of Lesbos.

Pope Questions Trump's Christianity

Pope Francis said "a person who thinks only about building walls... and not of building bridges, is not Christian".

That was roundly condemned by Mr Trump, who issued a statement in which he called the comments "disgraceful".

All very well and good for the Pope to speak his mind about American politics, maybe. However, by doing so he enabled Trump to dominate the news headlines once again.

The Vatican's Hidden Billions

As per economia, over €1bn hidden off the Vatican’s books have been identified by Cardinal George Pell, the man charged with cleaning up its finances.

In its first financial statement published since the appointment of Pell, the Vatican announced that assets previously off the balance sheets amounted to €1.1bn (£776m), previously unannounced liabilities totalled €222m.

Pell was appointed by Pope Francis in an attempt to wrest Vatican finances out of the hands of Italian bureaucrats.

Off balance sheet accounting, the hallmark an "honest" enterprise! 

I dare say that this is abut the tip of a very large ugly iceberg.

Did The Pope Perform an Exorcism?

A fair amount of fuss is being made over the Pope's laying on of hands to a sick person during the Mass in St Peter's Square on Sunday.

The BBC reports that TV footage shows a young man, who is in a wheelchair, opening his mouth and either screaming or breathing deeply as the Pope puts his hands on his head and prays for him during the Mass in St Peter's Square.

Cue those who believe in demons and such nonsense to claim that the Pope performed an exorcism, a claim that the Vatican has swiftly denied.

A few centuries ago the Vatican would have proudly boasted that it was an exorcism. However, these days it knows that such claims would be ridiculed.

As with all religions, people choose to believe what suits them, and will read into actions and words anything they want; facts become irrelevant.
