Pope Shuns Penthouse

The BBC reports that the Pope, for the moment, will shun a grand papal apartment on the top floor of the Vatican's Apostolic Palace in favour of a modest two-room residence.

Pope Had A Girlfriend

It seems that in former years, before he became a priest, Pope Francis (Jorge Bergoglio as he then was) had a girlfriend.

However, he was but 12 at the time and she rebuffed him.

Amalia Damonte claims that a 12 year old Jorge gave her a letter declaring his undying love for her. She is quoted by the Independent:

He wrote me a letter telling me that one day he would like to marry me.

He said that if I didn’t say yes, he would have to become a priest. Luckily for him, I said no!
All of this fits snugly into Pope Francis's "man of the people" credentials being carefully burnished by the Vatican spin machine.

Seagull On Papal Chimney

The seagull currently standing on top of the Papal chimney needs to be aware that the smoke used to signal the result of the Papal election is loaded with chemicals.

If I were that seagull I would fly away before the vote is cast.
